Colour and Light Week 3: Prints

Here are some examples of the prints we were making. We used very bright paper and bright paint. I think the prints look very effective and were very easy to do.

The next stage was to create a sculpture using the prints individually. I wanted to make a piece where I cut through some areas and layered the paper on top of each other to see through to the other print and colours.

I don’t think this worked very well and the colours looked very dark. I decided it would be interesting and a better way to show light and more of a sculpture by putting the paper into a cylinder. This is such a simple way to show the properties of paper and what it can do. 17016422_10203020822997119_540648552_o

These were only maquette’s so they are very basic and not very complicated. I wanted to show the inside of the tubes by using prints and cutting areas out of the crosshatched circles. If I was to develop this idea, I think I would look at creating a lampshade using this type of cutting out.
